Nakra, one of the most beautiful locations in Svaneti, is situated approximately 50 km from Mestia. Given the distance, it makes sense to stay overnight in Nakra. While there, you can enjoy additional horseback riding and trekking or take a jeep tour to the Lakitanali plateau.

Utviri Pass, located near the summit of Shtavler, serves as the saddle between the Nakra valley and the Chuberi valley. The trail ascends through a stunning forest, past shepherds’ huts, and into alpine meadows dotted with tiny lakes. The panoramas around Utviri Lake, situated at an altitude of 2850 meters, are truly unforgettable and not to be missed.

The excitement of riding in Svaneti is, in just one word, authentic. You ride the same trails that locals use when tending cattle or going hunting. The horses you ride are the same ones that work in households, and even the gear is exactly what the owners use for their daily tasks. How much closer to the real experience can you get?

You don’t need to be an experienced rider to enjoy these tours. It's actually a perfect opportunity to try horseback riding! The mountain trails are not suitable for galloping, so the tours are mostly at a walking pace. In some places, you may need to dismount and lead the horse, especially on slippery downhill sections, but local horses are adept at choosing the best route.
